Bantai!!!!! (or banzai?)

What an experience!!

Today marked the first time I had japanese food in my life, and having it with friends was great and being treated to it was the greatest! Not only was the company enjoyable, I had the most fun playing with my food!! Now with no disrespect to the japanese, why oh why...:
  1. taugeh is part of an expensive meal when you know it's really cheap?
  2. why is there no assam pedas? or tempoyak for that matter?
  3. do you have to go to the trouble of eating rice in a bowl using two wooden sticks? why can't you just use the hands that god gave you?
So while our host for lunch was tirelessly trying to explain to us the technicalities of eating japanese food, I was reflecting, with the assistance of my other friend (who gave me a parting gift in the form of staining my shirt with that dark sauce thingy) all of the above. And the situation wasn't helped by the staring eyes of the other patrons and also a guy who looked like japanese and seem to understand the jokes that we were throwing at each other.

I struggled through out the course to the extent I believe my hands were about to go into a cramp. Eating all the sea creatures served and forgetting the rice was a mistake that I thought could be solved by ordering a "telor mata..."

As a conclusion to our little lunch escapade today, while in the car I said, today I have just done what we should all be doing according to the guidance provided in Islam: "makan sebelum lapar, and BERHENTI SEBELUM KENYANG"

BANTAI!!
